Exie Solar Project

In development
Exie Solar logo

The Exie Solar Project is an up to 150 megawatt (MW) solar energy project and nonregulated transmission line located in Green County, Kentucky. The Exie Solar Project would include various equipment, including, without limitation, solar panels, inverters, battery energy storage systems, aboveground and underground collection lines, a transmission line, and a project substation and switchyard.

Spanning approximately 1,800 acres, the project will be connected to the Summershade to Greene County 161kV line. Exie Solar is anticipated to positively impact the environment as well as the local economy by producing tax revenue, jobs, and contributions through a charitable fund.

Public Participation and the Permitting Process

Under Kentucky Law, electric generating facilities capable of producing 10 MW or more and non-regulated transmission lines capable of carrying 69,000 volts or more must apply for a Construction Certificate from the Kentucky Electric Generation & Transmission Siting Board (Siting Board). This process provides for a single unified process by which facilities can obtain a certificate to operate. Generally speaking, the Siting Board process includes a public informational meeting, submittal of certificate application, Siting Board staff and consultant review, public hearing, evidentiary hearing, and certificate issuance/denial.

The Project docket, once established, will be the best way to stay informed about the Project, and a PDF of the certificate application will be available upon submission. Once the project docket is established, a link will be provided on this website.
